How do I create a new invoice?

How do I create a new invoice?


To create an invoice, you can designate an estimate as an invoicing estimate under the "Estimation" tab.


Press the button below to mark an estimate as a billing estimate. It is possible to mark multiple estimations as billing estimations.


Once the correct estimation has been indicated, you can go to the "Financial" tab in Cavalato.


Here, go to the ‘Invoice’ tab. Here you can find a history of the invoices already linked to this specific job. You will also get an overview of the different estimations. So you will be able to visually see which estimations were marked as ‘ho’, ‘planning’ or ‘invoicing’.

Select the desired estimation.

Under ‘Party’ you will get an overview of the parties already linked. No party linked to the job or would you like to add an extra party for invoicing? Then tick the ‘New’ option.

Once you have indicated the correct estimation and selected/added the correct relation. You can press the ‘Create invoice’ button.

Have you entered a payment term with the linked party? Then it will automatically be transferred to the invoice. You can still change it on the invoice if other agreements were made with your customer.


In the header of the invoice page (left side), you will get an overview of all the important data about the invoice. You can find here the journal, invoice number, invoice date, payment term, amount excl VAT and incl VAT, as well as the VAT amount. There is also a field to add a comment. This comment is included on the invoice document.

On the right-hand side of the header, you can then find all data related to the party linked to the invoice. If desired, you can always make changes here.


Linked a wrong relation? Then press the button below to indicate another party.

Completed all details? Then press ‘Save’ to save your changes.

Once you have saved all the data, you can press ‘Assign number’ to assign your invoice a number. The number will be assigned automatically based on the numbering created in the journal.

Press ‘Print e-mail’ to view the invoice in pdf.

Once you have ‘printed’ the document, the printout of the invoice will also be added to the documents folder in Cavalato.


Checked all details and printed the invoice? Then you can now send the invoice via e-mail. At the bottom of the invoice screen, you will find a ‘Communication’ section. Press ‘New’ to create a new e-mail. The invoice, you can add as an attachment.
