How do I create a journal?

To create a journal, you can go to the "Invoicing" tab in Cavalato.

Choose "Journals".

You will see an overview of the journals already created. Press on a journal to make changes. Want to create a new journal? Then press ‘Create’.

Enter a name for your journal.

Under code, enter the journal code set in your accounting software. Please contact your accountant if you do not know this code.

If you like to give your invoices a prefix (an extra letter before the numbers), you can set this here.

At last number, you can set the next invoice number. Cavalato will sequentially number your invoices based on this number.
Choose a type. You can choose between 'Invoices and credit notes', ‘Invoice’ or ‘Credit note’.

Choose a location. You can set a different journal for each location (if desired).

The external ID will be filled in if a link with an external accounting system has been associated. If no link is active, this field should be left blank.

If you mark this journal as ‘Default’, this journal will be automatically selected when creating a new invoice.

Completed everything? Then don't forget to press ‘Save’ to save the data.
